Here is my mahi on Waipunarangi. This is the Matariki star that relates to water from the sky. I really enjoyed making my work. I am proud of my writing.

This week we have been learning about the star Tupuārangi. Tupuārangi is the star connected to the collection of birds and other elevated food products like fruit and berries from the trees. We drew fruit outlines with pencil and then used pastels to shade in our outlines. We had to be careful we chose colours that would blend well together and that represented the fruit we choose.
This week we have been learning about the star Tupuānuku. Tupuānuku is the star connected to food grown in the ground, such as vegetables and rongoa (traditional medicine). “Tupu” means ‘to grow’ and “nuku” is the shortened version of “Papatuanuku” and means ‘earth’. We did some art to help us remember. We folded the paper so we could draw the vegetables under the ground and then we added what they looked like on top. Finally we died them using blue and brown.
This year we have added the value Resilient to our school values. We made a slide to show our new school values and our understanding of what each of them mean.
